New England, first half 18th century, slant lid opening to a well-fitted interior set with two fan-carved drawers, two document drawers with fluted pilasters centering a fan-carved central drawer over an interior till, front set with a false drawer, on conforming period frame with one long drawer, block-and-turned stretcher base, drawer with possibly original teardrop pulls, 40-3/4 x 30 x 18-1/2 in., escutcheons and one backboard replaced, top with stains and finish losses, patches at fallboard lip and desk top at lock, other scattered cracks, wear and repairs consistent with age and use.
