Provenance: Ex-Collection of Mrs. Talcott Hunt Clarke, who donated one of the eighty original copies of the "Porthole" portrait of George Washington to the National Cathedral in 1971. The portrait had been commissioned from Rembrandt Peale in 1853 by Mrs. Clark's grandfather's business partner, William Spencer. This watercolor portrait came from the same collection.
