Portrait of a Gentleman, said to be jurist, Paul Dudley (Massachusetts, 1675-1751), oil on canvas, 30 x 24-3/4 in.; carved and gilt wood oval frame, 37-1/4 x 33 in.

This portrait is said to be by a little known artist, The Portsmouth Limner and of Paul Dudley who would become The Attorney General of the province of Massachusetts Bay. A portrait of Paul Dudley is held by the Boston Athenaeum and appears to represent the more youthful jurist.

lined with wax and line and restretched on old stretcher, crackle, abrasions at edges, some scattered retouch; frame with some loses
