mid 19th century, walnut with some faux rosewood graining, oval top with upholstery cover with tasseled fringes, pedestal base with leaf carved and scrolled legs, set on casters, 31-1/4 x 26-1/4 x 39 in.
Note: This table is mentioned in The Magazine Antiques, August 1944 p. 81, as among the possessions of Louise Mallard, Prudent Mallard's granddaughter: "...an oval rosewood table with carved pedestal". Prudent Mallard's will bequests to his son George "..a black center table"" also possibly referring to this table. The traditional provenance supports the connection- Prudent Mallard to George Mallard to Louise Mallard.

Condition
modern upholstery (recovered in keeping with original colors as per family history), breaks and repairs at two legs (base fitted with later iron bracing, some associated minor losses), scattered losses at foot and pedestal turnings, scattered pest damage at caster wheels
Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
