Side Chair
attributed to the shop of John Seymour, Jr., Boston, 1785-1793, urn-and-column splat, caned seat and tapered legs, frame decorated overall in polychrome flowers on black ground, 35 x 18-3/4 x 16 in.,. Condition: breaks and repairs to rear stiles at joint with seat frame and crest rail (later iron braces at back), chip and loss at front seat rail, one rear leg with infill and later brace at back, extensive distress and losses to paint decoration overall.
