Sideboard
New York or Connecticut, circa 1800, dovetailed construction with white pine secondary, central long drawer with quarter fan inlay centering a gold staff and liberty cap inlaid patera, two cabinet doors flanked by cabinet door with false double front and a deep cellaret drawer, legs with bellflower and rosette inlay over cow skulls issuing trailing vines, 38 x 73 x 25-1/2 in. Restored. Break and repair to one front leg with spline (original leg material top and bottom). brasses replaced, underside of top with later bracing (end boards applied at underside across the top), backboards reset (lower backboard with sliding dovetail mortises from previous application), large door with cracks and patches at hinges (hinges replaced), minor patch at one rear foot, scattered veneer cracks and losses especially to lower doors, other veneer patches and repairs,.
