Note: The Apollo Association was an early American art union that promoted American artists by commissioning and distributing prints through a subscription service. "The Sweet Potato Dinner" was the inaugural print produced by the Apollo Association, depicting a historical scene of Revolutionary War General Francis Marion, also known as the "Swamp Fox" for the guerilla tactics he used in South Carolina, meeting with a British commander.
