(British, 1824-1908)

Two Dog Portraits: Gordon Setter Kent, unsigned, 8-3/8 x 10-3/4 in., Pointer Hamlet, bears signature lower right "G. Earl", 9-1/8 x 11 in., both oval, oil on card; matching gilt wood and composition oval frames, 12 x 14-3/8 in.

Note: A magazine page from The Kennel Gazette, August 1988, identify Old Kent as being included in Champion Dogs of England, an exhibition of George Earl's paintings in tondo format held at The Kennel Club and reproduced in a rare book by the same title. These paintings were not included in that publication. Gordon Setter Kent appears to be after No. 11 and the other, No. 15.
