Note: Made to resemble the busts of Roman emperors from antiquity, the original model by Chaudet was executed in the "herm" style and became Napoleon's preferred likeness. Many were reproduced during the first quarter of the 19th century and were subsequently destroyed when the Bourbons regained authority in 1814.
