London, attributed to John Dwight's Fulham Pottery, circa 1705, with a crowned "AR" excise mark for Queen Anne, covered in reddish brown iron slip ending just above the ribbed foot band, the front stamped with an oval seal of Britannia, probably cut by Regnier Arondeaux (Flemish, active 1678-1702), the rim fitted with a later silver mount stamped "1=4=12" and two maker's marks, 5 in. - Note: For an almost identical example of a Fulham attributed stoneware mug with Britannia medallion and "AR" excise mark, see Ceramics in America, 2002, "Brown Mugs and Jugs: A Personal Foray into the Field of Collecting" by James Glenn, pages 171-190, fig. 4. - Provenance: Garry Atkins, London; Exhibited in "Garry Atkins, An Exhibition of English Pottery", March 2004, no. 29 (accompanied by copy of catalogue page); Property from the Collection of Dudley and Constance Godfrey

Condition
Purchased items not picked up in Richmond by noon on Sunday will then be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
