dated 1733, grant from King George II restoring Thomas Lowndes as Provost Marshall of South Carolina, with the Royal Arms, written in neat calligraphy on vellum, the top line reading "George the Second by the Grace of God" with illuminated letter "G" enclosing an engraved portrait of George II, and signed at the bottom "James Michie Dep-Secry", surrounded by intricate hand drawn illustrations including the Floral Badge of Great Britain, the arms of France with three fleur de lis, crowns, masks, and scrolls, sight 32-1/2 x 23-1/2 in.; modern gilt and ebonized wood frame with window verso, 33-1/4 x 41-5/8 in.; accompanied by copy of invoice for "£2,500", a Return of Loan receipt from MESDA, and transcript of grant Note: This document was on loan in the Thomas A.
