nineteen line letter from the Minister of War, Henri Clarke, Duc de Feltre (1765-1818), mentioning the Marechal de Conegliand (Bon Adrien Jeannot de Moncey), signed at bottom, "Duc de Feltre", and dated ["le 23 Mar, 1810"], brown ink on laid paper, 12-1/2 x 8-1/4 in.

Note: When Henri Clarke helped to thwart the British invasion of the Netherlands in the Walcheren Campaign of 1809, the emperor created a title for him,"Duke of Feltre". Napoleon was dependent on his authority which rapidly expanded as he helped organize the administration and establishment of the [Grande Armée] beginning in 1811.
