probably British, 19th century, fine silk needlework of a footed bowl containing applied carved stone grapes, berries, apples, and pears and other fruit with needlework leaves, "1839" and "C.P." written in ink at bottom, silk on silk, 9-1/4 x 7-1/4 in.; probably later gilt and black painted composite shadow box frame dust on fruit, light fading, losses to frame. Provenance: Estate of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Lucas, Long Island, New York
