signed "Lucretia Lewis's Sampler Marked 1824 Aged 9 Years Penfield" (New York) over pictorial panel of a house, tree, flower pot and female figure carrying a flower, bottom panel depicts possible boats or barges, floral vine border on three sides, silk on linen, 14 x 14 in. (sight); later veneer frame one repair to lower right in border, fading, darkening of linen. Notes: Lucretia Lewis was born in 1815 in Penfield, Monroe County, New York. She married John Amsden and by the 1850 Census they are listed as living in Woodford, Kentucky. Both John and Lucretia are buried in a marked grave located in Versailles, Kentucky..
