Needlework
American, possibly Massachusetts, 1801, finely stitched central funeral urn marked "GW", to the left "He is in Glory" and to the right "The World in Tears", stitched across the center "wrought by Olive Cobb in the 10 year of her age September 8 1801", four-line eulogy above a row of flowers, five bands of the alphabet and numbers stitched top, silk on linen, 12 x 12 in. (sight), later wood and gilt frame, several holes in the center of the linen ground, fading, browning of linen ground. Notes: Federal Census and Massachusetts birth and death records list a Olive Cobb born 1789 in Middleborough, Massachusetts and died 1866 in Barnstable, Massachusetts
