New York, possibly 18th century, engraved "RICHARD PARI HIS HORN/MADE AT CROWN POINT/MADE AUGUST 22 1760", stylized depiction of Fort Point Crown, and smaller images of various animals and trees, wood cap, 11 in.Note:ÿCrown Point was significant to the British victory during the French and Indian War. Formerly controlled by the French as Fort St. Frederic, the British took control of the damaged fort in 1759. Over the winter they rebuilt it with a new name of "His Majesties Fort of Crown Point". The following year, an assembled British fleet left Crown Point and pursued the French into Canada for a three prong attack on Montreal.
